So, several things.
First of all, I just found out that the movie "Becoming Jane" (which has always had a special place in my heart, even though I haven't seen it in five years) stars JAMES MCAVOY and ANNE HATHAWAY, two of my FAVORITE actors of ALL. TIME. How I didn't know this before, you may ask? I was 10, and far too busy trying to remember the names of singers than actors. Needless to say, my new mission in life is to procure a copy of that movie for myself.
It's also special because my mom took me to go see it, and she hates movies with a fiery passion Also, Batman, oh my God! SO good! I'm sorry about the shooting in CO, but the movie was still one of the best movies of the summer!! (Accompanied by The Avengers, of course
And, as you'll all be happy to know, I did it. I finally watched that stupid, nerdy, cult-forming, all-geeks-foam-at-the-mouth-at-its-mention movie. I watched the first LOTR movie for the first time ever. I learned what a Bilbo Baggins is. I learned that elves carry their hearts around their necks rather than on their sleeves. And most importantly, I fell in love with Legolas. That lead to another brain explosion because as it turns out, Legolas is ORLANDO BLOOM. I don't even like Bloom, because I
hated his character in Pirates, but I guess I'm just going to suffer being in love with him now! Also, that stupid hobbit side character (I say that lovingly) is
Charlie? What! WHAT?!
Enough of that. I apologize to anyone who just read that... :/
Another important thing (because that was important
), I have finally finished summer school. It was the worst thing I've ever had to do, and I'll probably be doing it again. (Let the records show that this was my own free will, because I opted to take an art class instead of a regular class.) Anyways, I passed with flying colors against all odd because my teacher was a freaking idiot, no big deal. Now I can actually focus on my art for a while. That is, until I start school in a week. Bummer, indeed. :/
And now for some good news, I got a DD! I was SOOOOO happy! It wasn't what I'd expected, because I always thought my Eiffel Tower bottle would be most likely to get a DD out of my gallery, but instead it was my Edgar Allan Poe vase! I logged on and was like "Fifty notifications? That's normal-OH WAIT THEY'RE ALL FEEDBACK MESSAGES!!"
Big thanks to
Talty for being awesome and featuring me.
Finally, I figure you should all know, I submitted some work to a local gallery last month. It's smack in the middle of my downtown area, literally right next to city hall and the library, so it gets some good traction, all galleries considered. The woman who works there (seems like a higher up, but isn't the director, so I don't know what to call here) was very interested in my work for the city's centennial competition and the sister cities competition (which, by the way, I got a letter of recognition for from Sister Cities International). Anyways, she was really excited about my work and wanted me to submit there. No big deal, she now knows me by name; I have become the very impressive teen in her books
I'm sorry, that was a little too self-confident right there... Anyways, so when I turned in my artwork, neither that woman (Yvonne) or the director was there, so I had to give it to the elderly woman who sometimes worked there as a receptionist, and, long story short, I'm pretty sure it never got to anyone.
I've been in contact with Yvonne, and she's told me to hang in there, because she hadn't had a chance to talk to the director yet, and they haven't had a review panel yet for the submissions. I'm a little concerned, but I think I'll be okay. I have no idea what's going to happen
BUT it's all good because I'm in a good mood and it's been a good summer
How're y'all doing? I know someone has a wedding coming...
