D: You guys, I check dA every day, and somehow I didn't notice that my last journal is from FEBRUARY. Geez! So, here I am :)

I just uploaded some new deviations for the first time in forever as well. I've been working really hard to get ready for a big art festival I'm in next week (more info here: www.fountainhillschamber.com/f… ). Since I've been doing mostly the same stuff, I didn't feel like anyone really needed to see it...plus it's all Christmas themed, lol. I do have a bunch of little crafty things I'm excited to do, once I get past this festival. I really want to start throwing on the wheel again, but I haven't had any time :( Don't get me wrong, I love painting bottles, I just am really excited to diversify my skills!

I don't think I have any real other news. School is going well; my only low grade is in Precalculus, which is considered by the math teachers to be the hardest class we offer. I'm waaaaay over-involved, which is just the way I like it! I'm an executive on NHS, I'm technically in French Honor Society (but we never have any meetings), I'm one of the leaders for the Ambassadors program, I'm in drama, and, of course, I'm a co-president of Art Club! So much to do, so little time. I love it though :)

Yup. As usual, I'm a little late. Still, happy new year! Hope you have a good one! I don't really do resolutions, but if you do, feel free to share :)

As for me, I'm as busy as always. I'm working on a chair right now for an event hosted by the gallery I'm in. It's called "Charitable", and they're auctioning off artist-rendered chairs and tables. All the proceeds fund artist in-services at public schools, hence "charitable". I'm pretty excited; I'll be getting a little money for time spent and I get to set up my own table at the event, no tax license required! :)

I've also got a lot of sketches for bottles, so as soon as I'm finished with the chair I'll be working like a crazy person on those. BUT this semester I also decided to be a manager for my schools track and field team (crazy, I know) and I'm doing makeup for the musical over the next two weeks O.O Add in my homework schedule, and I will not be sleeping much! Haha

And now I'm addicted to this crazy site called "Pinterest" and I never get anything done -.-'  So that's pretty much it for me; nothing exciting, just busy work! :)

So, I found these rad shoes on dA today:

Loki Heels by MargotlaRue

Needless to say, I TOTALLY WANT TO DO THIS!!! Not even heels, necessarily; I have a friend with a pair of comic book flats I've been envying recently. And the major problem is: I don't have comic books  And I don't want to print any off the internet, because it just doesn't seem the same :| So I'm going to put a call out on Facebook, and if I don't get any response (which I probably won't) then I'll just print stuff.

Moving on...

I got into the gallery! Super exciting! I actually found out a few days after I wrote the last journal, I just forgot to say something ^^; Needless to say, I'll go and try to sneakily take some pictures :D

Also I'm back in school now so my work may be coming slower. I do have a couple of commissions, but, like I said, school. And, oh yeah, school. Love it, but hate it  I'm the leader of Art Club this year, so I might take a picture of some projects we do.

Yup, think that's it! Byes

edit: oh jeez...they changed those to these new stupid thumbs :shakefish: i hated these when I saw the idea; they just look weird, and they're too big :frustrated:

Life!

5 min read
So, several things.

First of all, I just found out that the movie "Becoming Jane" (which has always had a special place in my heart, even though I haven't seen it in five years) stars JAMES MCAVOY and ANNE HATHAWAY, two of my FAVORITE actors of ALL. TIME. How I didn't know this before, you may ask? I was 10, and far too busy trying to remember the names of singers than actors. Needless to say, my new mission in life is to procure a copy of that movie for myself.
It's also special because my mom took me to go see it, and she hates movies with a fiery passion

Also, Batman, oh my God! SO good! I'm sorry about the shooting in CO, but the movie was still one of the best movies of the summer!! (Accompanied by The Avengers, of course ;) And, as you'll all be happy to know, I did it. I finally watched that stupid, nerdy, cult-forming, all-geeks-foam-at-the-mouth-at-its-mention movie. I watched the first LOTR movie for the first time ever. I learned what a Bilbo Baggins is. I learned that elves carry their hearts around their necks rather than on their sleeves. And most importantly, I fell in love with Legolas. That lead to another brain explosion because as it turns out, Legolas is ORLANDO BLOOM. I don't even like Bloom, because I hated his character in Pirates, but I guess I'm just going to suffer being in love with him now! Also, that stupid hobbit side character (I say that lovingly) is Charlie? What! WHAT?!

Enough of that. I apologize to anyone who just read that... :/

Another important thing (because that was important :p), I have finally finished summer school. It was the worst thing I've ever had to do, and I'll probably be doing it again. (Let the records show that this was my own free will, because I opted to take an art class instead of a regular class.) Anyways, I passed with flying colors against all odd because my teacher was a freaking idiot, no big deal. Now I can actually focus on my art for a while. That is, until I start school in a week. Bummer, indeed. :/

And now for some good news, I got a DD! I was SOOOOO happy! It wasn't what I'd expected, because I always thought my Eiffel Tower bottle would be most likely to get a DD out of my gallery, but instead it was my Edgar Allan Poe vase! I logged on and was like "Fifty notifications? That's normal-OH WAIT THEY'RE ALL FEEDBACK MESSAGES!!" :XD: Big thanks to Talty for being awesome and featuring me.

Finally, I figure you should all know, I submitted some work to a local gallery last month. It's smack in the middle of my downtown area, literally right next to city hall and the library, so it gets some good traction, all galleries considered. The woman who works there (seems like a higher up, but isn't the director, so I don't know what to call here) was very interested in my work for the city's centennial competition and the sister cities competition (which, by the way, I got a letter of recognition for from Sister Cities International). Anyways, she was really excited about my work and wanted me to submit there. No big deal, she now knows me by name; I have become the very impressive teen in her books :D I'm sorry, that was a little too self-confident right there... Anyways, so when I turned in my artwork, neither that woman (Yvonne) or the director was there, so I had to give it to the elderly woman who sometimes worked there as a receptionist, and, long story short, I'm pretty sure it never got to anyone. :( I've been in contact with Yvonne, and she's told me to hang in there, because she hadn't had a chance to talk to the director yet, and they haven't had a review panel yet for the submissions. I'm a little concerned, but I think I'll be okay. I have no idea what's going to happen :(

BUT it's all good because I'm in a good mood and it's been a good summer :) How're y'all doing? I know someone has a wedding coming... ;)

Just some stuff to talk 'bout! First of all, I want you guys to know that I won Teen Best in Show for this piece:

100 by kampfly

It doesn't exactly have a very wide audience, except for those who live in my city, so I donated it to the city collection rather than try to sell it. And besides, I won $100 for my prize in the contest ;) Now it'll travel around the city and be displayed in certain areas. My hope is that it'll stay in the downtown area, preferably in the library, but I'll never know

Also, over a month ago by now, I won another Chandler-themed contest. It was for our sister city program, and the theme was "Catalyst for Change". I entered this piece:

Catalyst for Change by kampfly

The judges loved it, so I won first place on this side of the competition and now it's going to international level judging. I don't think there's a prize for this one, but apparently I was in the paper  I need to get my hands on that article now!

I was also the designer of two of next year's T-shirts for my school, the Homecoming and Fine Arts Association designs. I finished those and will update as soon as I can get a good picture. I actually ended up doing three designs for the Homecoming t-shirt, because they wouldn't give me a clear idea of what they wanted, and student council managed to pick the shirt I like the least -.- Oh, well, I should've seen it coming.

In other news, now that the bragging period is over, I'm submitting to a gallery next month and I only have like four pieces entered :XD: Here are the ones I have in mind, feel free to tell me if there are others you like:

Rainbow Wine Bottle and Companions by kampfly 9. Doom by kampfly   Rainbow Birdies! by kampfly   Rocket Ships by kampfly   50. Percent by kampfly

I was debating about throwing my HP vase in there too, but there's the whole copyright infringement deal I have to keep in mind ;)

That's my friend right there, makin' sure you pay attention.
I got a FB page for my store!! No big deal guys, it only took me almost two hours to set up! :la: Here it is: www.facebook.com/CreatedandRec… PLEASE, PLEASE "like" it! I don't care whether you do anything else, please just press the "like" button! This way the page gains traction and more people can see what I do. It's really important to me!

Also, just a reminder that I happen to be super excited about, my etsy store IS up and running: www.etsy.com/shop/vivoleach

And finally, I'm going on vacation in a few days. I'm bringing my laptop, but I'm not sure if I'll have any internet access. Like, at all. I'm debating about whether or not I want to have another person admin my group, but I don't think anyone's on here as much as I am :XD: Oh, and there's the fact that I'm a bit of a control freak! But, honestly, volunteers are welcome, so if you're up to the task, speak up! :)

I think that's enough emoticon abuse for one day.
